Abu Dhabi operates a civil family court with its own eligibility rules, case types and procedure, separate from the federal personal status system.
It was established to deal with family matters for people who fall within its scope, and it applies a civil framework rather than personal status rules. Whether it is available to a particular family depends on the eligibility conditions that apply at the time, not on preference.
